ABN FACT ALERT ABN Update. CMS has recently updated their view on the use of ABN (Advanced Beneficiary Notices) when "UPGRADING" a product or service. This change is considered to be a stricter interpretation of the ABN policy. What does this means to Breast Care? ABN's will not be accepted as valid to "upgrade" an item or service due solely to a financial difference between the medicare allowable and the retail cost of an item or service. What Now?
